Louis Buhl is pleased to present our first edition with New York-based artist Kristin Texeira, titled No Beginning, No Middle, No End and releasing September 14th 2023. Texeira creates abstract paintings inspired by her interactions with people and places, her use of color channeled from her sensitivity to memory. She often creates “memory maps” that tell of a specific moment in time, extracting the essence of a feeling and turning this element of art into a narrative.

No Beginning, No Middle, No End is just that: a practice to stay present and preserve a moment in time, its composition slowly built up by Texeira over the month of February 2023.

“I take this month [of February], which I consider to be the most mundane of the year, and I make it a mission to notice everything about it. I have always kept journals like a poet, purposefully vague and full of metaphors. February’s journal is meticulous, like it was written by a president. The purpose is to be present and to remind myself that there is beauty in the everyday… I take my daily drawings and layer them on top of each other…I fill them with the colors that have surrounded me for the month: desaturated earth, gray ocean light, flickers of red from holly bushes and holidays. No beginning, no middle, no end.”

Each edition is accompanied by a small-scale screenprint which illustrates Texeira’s drawings in calendar form. On the opposite side of Texeira’s calendar is a blank one for the collector to fill out themself in a practice of noticing, or what the artist refers to as “being awake in time.”
