Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present our first print edition with Chicago-born and Copenhagen-based artist KC Ortiz, titled Eyes on the Prize. With a past in graffiti art and photojournalism, Ortiz’s desire to explore larger concepts and questions than he felt could be addressed with his camera drove his major shift in focus on fine art and painting. Ortiz’s current work explores inner and outer conflict between individuals and society as they play out on the infinite stage of time and space. He examines the constant quest for freedom by the individual, both consciously and physically, in a landscape occupied by borders, obstacles, and distractions.

Colorful and dense with various text and imagery, Eyes On The Prize tells a story about the strength and perseverance of the average human being surviving in an unforgiving world during turbulent times. Based on a work painted during the Trump regime era, the edition is meant to serve as inspiration and a reminder of the people’s will to overcome hardships no matter what they are up against, even an entire system.

“Today Trump is out of office, but we still live in a world shaped by their agenda and must remember the fight is far from over, even if they aren’t currently in the spotlight and in charge at the moment. As the battle continues we must keep our eyes on the prize, demanding that society and individuals should not just survive, but also grow and thrive.” — KC Ortiz
