Louis Buhl & Co. is proud to announce Domestic Situation 1, a new edition with Chicago-based artist Cody Hudson. Though often referenced as a painter or graphic designer, Hudson works across many different media. His use of graphic lines and bright color inspire a story of longing and hope, while also finding context within contemporary abstract painting. The artist is interested in the elemental use of shape as signifier, but goes further by allowing the forms to be direct extensions of the painting’s poetic content.
"My studio office is full of plants. In the grey Chicago winters, being surrounded by living things helps elevate my mood. Some of the cutouts are loose graphic interpretations of actual plants in the studio, while others reference cacti that produce psychoactive alkaloids such as the San Pedro and Peruvian Torch. I'm interested in the connection between living plants and their effect on the human state of mind, both psychedelically and psychologically. " - Cody Hudson
