Details

The first edition of sculptures by Cody Hudson for Louis Buhl & Co., Plant Based Architecture (Let’s Stay Alive) is a series of 3 dimensional monoprints hand-screened onto plywood and cut into graphic shapes of house plants. The works include silkscreened imagery of loose shapes, textures and an abstracted graphic of the Earth, and blank screens were used to “draw” through the screens, adding further form and pattern to each piece of wood. The series ships flat packed and are then slotted together to assemble the final structure.

Beautiful individually or in groups, the edition is a continuation of the artist’s exploration into graphic adaptations of the living things he surrounds himself with, and act as sculptural counterparts to the Domestic Situation print from 2018.

“Some of the cutouts are loose graphic interpretations of actual plants in my studio, while others reference cacti that produce psychoactive alkaloids. I'm interested in the connection between living plants and their effect on the human state of mind, both psychedelically and psychologically.” - Cody Hudson
