Pedro Pedro

Pedro Pedro views his paintings as parodies of the still-life form: He turns quotidian objects, such as a sock or a half-eaten sandwich, into spirited characters on his energetic canvases. The L.A.-based artist’s vibrant scenes evoke both the colorful, grotesque figurations of Peter Saul and the compositional considerations of Old Master painters; Pedro’s loose, humorous style still feels classical in nature. The artist has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Pedro’s compositions of untidy things suggest the harried contemporary lives lived just beyond their frames.

B. 1986; lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
