Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present a new series of lithographs by Australian husband-and-wife visual artists DabsMyla, which they created at the Poligrafa Obra Grafica in Barcelona, Spain. An establishment rich in history, the print house has been publishing specialized artist editions since 1964, and, since its inception, has collaborated with a number of renowned creatives such as Joan Miró, Christo, Francis Bacon and Max Ernst. The artworks’ compositions were inspired by the Greek-born artist Giorgia De Chirico, and DabsMyla’s longstanding admiration for his iconic use of light, shadow and surreal subject matter. As the artists express, “the way [De Chirico] could approach something like a still life or landscape and create such intrigue in the viewer using perspective, long dramatic shadows and voids of space is something that we have strived to achieve [in these works].” What results from this approach is a modern tribute to the late master’s craft within the framework of DabsMyla’s signature design language.
